A couple of weeks ago I posted about how micro.blog lets you use the FIGURE and FIGCAPTION tags as well as the IMG tags for images Figure and figcaption element for images in micro.blog.

Now I have discovered that micro.blog autogenerates a caption and hashtags for images that you put into the Uploads section.

You can see them when you click on the image. And the caption is included when you click on ‘copy HTML’. It only seems to work for JPEG or JPG files, and not PNG or WEBP images.

I assume this is done by some form of AI. If so, I approve. It might not be perfect, e.g. it will say “a photo of a person” when you recognise the person in the photo. But, you can always edit the caption to add in the correct name. Even if it is not exactly correct, I think this is one of those situations where something is better than nothing.
