A Spanish company, Nueva Pescanove, wants to establish the world’s first commercial octopus farm.

According to the activist group, Ekō:

Octopuses are solitary animals that need to move freely. Living in captivity in an extremely small space with millions of other animals is not species-appropriate and leads to a slow and agonising death.

The increasing demand for octopus meat is promoting the cruel breeding of this highly intelligent animal. If octopus farms are allowed to proliferate, millions of these sensitive creatures will be crammed into tiny aquariums until they die miserably from stress or are killed, painfully, by icy water.
