I’ve spent the last few days feeling busy and useful. This isn’t always the case. It depends on me having the energy to do it! However, it is very rewarding. One job was for a non-profit I’m part of and the other was helping out a relative.

The first was writing the minutes of our Residents Association committee meeting — by hand because the secretary was away and the substitute didn’t know that and didn’t go to the meeting — and then typing up. Then I had to publish them on our WordPress site, which I loath with a passion. I think I deserve a medal just for that!

Next was proofreading an application for funding for a Children’s Book Fair in Bologna in several years, which my sister-in-law is involved with. They had got to the point where they needed a fresh pair of eyes on it.

All gratis, of course. But it’s what I would have done as ‘work’ before I apparently retired because of illness, so it’s good to keep the skills intact because I think I’m going to keep working part-time for as long as I can until Kate’s work originating from the Ministry of Education picks up — if it ever does!
