CW: Medical discussion, pain, drugs

We had a visit from the Mary Potter Occupational Therapist on Thursday, which was very successful. I had a very sore back for the past few days, and by last Wednesday it had got too much for me. So I got on the phone to the hospice, my GP and specialist haematologist to get them into action. And get into action they did.

I got an emergency appointment with my GP, organised the OT visit and got a phone call from my blood and cancer specialist haematologist, as well as a couple of nurses from the hospice.

The result was that on Friday the hospice delivered several devices to help me get around the house when I am very sore, my balance isn’t good and I need help standing up, sitting down and lying down. We’ve installed them or put them into action and they are doing a great job.

My GP increased my pain medication doses, which has taken them to the level I needed.

It’s interesting what you will grow to tolerate when conditions change slowly, and then suddenly get pushed over the edge when it’s a sudden change you can’t ignore.
